Capacity Building and Skills Development

Ecological Trends Alliance aims to provide training, build capacity in ecology, environment, development and livelihoods to improve skills, knowledge, practice and behavior/attitude. The capacity building is an evidence-driven process of strengthening the abilities of individuals, organizations, and systems to perform core functions sustainably. With the various communities we work with, we aim at developing and strengthening their skills, abilities, processes and resources that they need to survive, adapt, and thrive in this constantly changing environment. This is a very important instrument to increase the effectiveness and quality of communities for improved productivity and sustainable economic growth.

In so doing this, Ecological Trends Alliance will have met its capacity building and training specific goals of improving capability, capacity, productivity and performance. This is specifically in three-fold:

1.    Promoting knowledge and awareness in ecology, environment and development;

2.    Imparting sustainable resource use skills

3.    Promoting livelihood options and related skills that are environmentally friendly.

We therefore acknowledge that capacity development is the process through which individuals, institutions and societies obtain, strengthen and maintain the capabilities to set and achieve their own development objectives over time. It is not a one-off training but rather a long-term engagement.
